We're Captive on the Carousel of Time

Today I have a hodgepodge of stuff for you! I've accumulated a bunch of things that I'd like to put on this blog, so I thought I'd do it all in one go. Also, I'm experimenting with taking photos inside since it's finally gotten too cold to venture outside to take them. It took a while, but I've finally found a few rooms and camera settings that will produce adequate pictures. Hooray!

The other day my dad walked into my room and handed me an anthology of sheet music for Joni Mitchell songs. He found on one of his many jaunts to half-price books and bought it for me on a whim. I'm so excited about it! I can't wait to start learning songs from it! Also, I think it has a very attractive cover. These things are important to me.

I visited my favorite dollar store recently and was delighted to see that the valentine's day merchandise is out already! Not because I love valentine's day or anything, I'm forever alone etc, I just like the chocolate and conversation hearts and tacky valentines day swag. I picked out this rose print ribbon from between the plastic pink party favors. What will I use it for? I have no idea. All I know is that I like it.

I may have mentioned in my last post that I made a headband out of some of the trim I found at JoAnn fabrics. Here it is! To make it, I just stole a tiny amount of 1/4 inch elastic from my sister and sewed it in the back to give it a little stretch. Also note the crochet blanket I have wrapped around my shoulders: it was a present from my grandmother, who made it a long time ago. She saw my crochet sweater and thought I might like to make something out of her old blanket. I think it's so pretty! I haven't made anything out of it yet, but I might just leave it as is and wear it as a shawl.

I went thrifting the other day and got a ton of great stuff! Among them were this black velvet button-down and these earrings. If you look closely you can see that they're snakes. They're the coolest!

Finally, here's my favorite find from that thrifting outing:

Green velvet shoes!!! For $5!!! They're a little too small and pinch my feet but who cares! I'll just wear them when I don't have to do much walking. I like them a lot.

And now, I leave you with one of my favorite Joni Mitchell songs. I love the little monologue she does at the beginning of this version. Joni is a goddess.

  1. You've got really cool style and I love your haircut! Haha, Valentine's Day should be renamed Singles Awareness Day. We can be forever alone together. :D

  2. Those shoes are such a nice color! Nice find, they look like they're in great condition still. Shame about the size but hey, we suffer for style, right? Heh.

'Singles Awareness Day' would be pretty sucky if it weren't for all the Valentines themed stuff. I really need to get out there soon and get a bunch of heart covered crap.

  3. I want to go shopping with you now) so much nice stuff! I mean those velvet shoes, the snake earrings, the blouse... Gorgeous!

  4. Impossibly jealous of your father! I wish mine woud walk in & hand me Joni Mitchell sheet music! Too cool!

  5. Love the last pic if you, you suit your hair like this, very elegant, like a ballerina! Also I'm in love with the jewellery! Especially the gold cross. You asked where I got the crescent moon necklace, it was eBay, ill try find the link for you. Xxxxxxx

  6. Oh wow! I was just listening to the circle game! Makes me cry every time. Love Joni Mitchel for ever and ever! (especially Woodstock, A case of you, and Ladies of the Canyon...)

More importantly, I love your style! Nice find with the shoes!
